On August 23, 2013, the United Nations, together with the International Olympic Committee, announced April 6th as the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. The Montenegrin Olympic Committee, in cooperation with the international organization "Peace and Sport", commemorated April 6, the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. Using social networks, with the help of athletes, MOC marked this day through the White Card campaign. The idea behind this move is that athletes and sports workers take photographs with a white card and to have this image posted on social networks with hashtags #WhiteCard and #IDSDP2018. White card symbolizes the opposite of a red card, which is the most serious violation in sport, and white color is, in itself, a symbol of peace and purity. It is expected that marking 6 April, the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, will be supported by around 170 National Olympic Committees. Sport must not be an objective by itself, but a mean of education, development and peace; it must promote co-operation, solidarity, tolerance, understanding, inclusion and health at the local, national and international level.
