The Executive Committee of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee verified the proposal of the jury for the athlete of the year and declared the handball representative Vuk Borozan the best athlete of Montenegro in 2017. Borozan led the Montenegrin national team to the European Championship, and won the Champions League and the SEHA League with his team Vardar. The best young female athlete of Montenegro in 2017 is judoka Ivana Nikolic, while the karateka Bojan Boskovic is the best young male athlete. Nikolic won silver at the Cadet World Championship in Santiago de Chile, while Boskovic won the gold medal at the World Karate Championship for Juniors, Cadets and athletes under 21, in Tenerife. Women's handball team is the best national selection of Montenegro, with their sixth place from the World Championship. National water polo team of Montenegro, who won the European champions' title, is the best male team in 2017. The declaration ceremony for the best athletes of Montenegro will be held on December 21st, in Vila Gorica.
