The 13th European Youth Festival (EYOF) was officially closed this evening at the Tbilisi's sports village. The program began with the medal awards in team sports: handball, basketball and volleyball, followed by a flag parade of the 50 participating countries and a brief cultural program. Finally, close to 4,000 participants enjoyed the fireworks and their farewell party. The flag of Montenegro was carried by Jovana Pekovic, who won a silver medal in judo. Earlier today, Montenegrin women's handball team has taken 7th place in the overall standings, by winning Georgia 26:15. EYOF is held every two years, and brings together the best young European athletes, ages up to 17, who compete in nine Olympic sports: athletics, cycling, swimming, tennis, gymnastics, judo, basketball, handball and volleyball. The Hungarian city of Győr will host the next summer games in 2017.
