Marina Rakovic has won the first medal for Montenegro at the European games. In a battle for third on the karate tournament up to 68 kilograms, she defeated Swiss karate player Elena Quirici (4-0). Marina was very close to the final, but lost in semi-finals from a host competitor Irina Zaretska, literally with a last second point (1-0). Prior to this, Rakovic won against a girl which she defeated in a fight for third. She also won against the Iceland karate player Telma Frimannsdottir, and had a tie against the Turkish Hafsa Burucu (0-0).
