On the first day of competition at the XVII Mediterranean Games in Mersin, the Montenegrin judoka Nikola Gusic won a bronze medal in the category up to 66 kilograms. With this medal, young Gusic was able to confirm his great shape, which is demonstrated by winning the gold medal at the Games of the Small States of Europe in Luxembourg in May. In the match for the bronze medal, he won against Egyptian Ahmed Abuelker.
