XIX Session of the Executive Committee of MOC

Today in Podgorica XIX session of the Executive Board was held, which analyzed the report of the participation of Montenegrin athletes on the Olympic Games in London (27.07. 12.08.2012.)

The Executive Committee has considered and adopted the reports submitted by the President of the MOC, Dušan Simonović and Head of Mission, Igor Vušurović, about the Olympic Games in London.

The report stated that a large number of athletes who have represented Montenegro at the Olympics, the big Olympic family, made us very proud, and the results that are achieved by our athletes will be an inspiration for many future generations of Montenegrin athletes, which was the motto of the Games and that is, in our opinion, reflected these days by our many successful performances of national teams.

It was noted that a very serious and demanding job was accomplished in a remarkable way, which was preparation and successful organization of participation of our athletes at the most prestigious sporting event in the world – the Olympic Games and this completed the first whole cycle of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee.

The Executive Committee also highlighted our extraordinary Olympic team, with excellent results and with the captured historical, first Olympic medal for Montenegro.

In the preparatory period for the Olympic games, the Montenegrin Olympic Committee has organized a series of cultural, entertaining, educational, humanitarian, and sporting events that were planned in a program of promotion of Olympism in Montenegro, as well as: competitions in the visual and literary works – for primary and secondary schools, Olympic caravan – whose promoters were participants in the Olympic Games in London, the TV quiz – whose participants were high school students from Montenegro, which was broadcasted on Television of Montenegro, graffiti drawing competition, charity basketball game between the state and private universities.

At the villa, Gorica ", the Montenegrin Olympic Committee organized a special farewell to our Olympians. The ceremony was attended by the president Filip Vujanović, Head of the Parliament Ranko Krivokapić, Prime Minister Igor Lukšić, Ministers in the Government of Montenegro, representatives of the diplomatic corps in Montenegro and celebrities from the political and public life, sponsors of MOC, presidents and general secretaries of national sports associations , members of the Assembly of MOC, the members of the Executive Committee of MOC, former and current athletes and sports officials.

At the session, the attention that the local media paid to everything that had to do with our participation at the Olympics was also noted , and to the fact that we had the full support from their side, we are very grateful.

The tribute was paid to the professional team and external partners of Montenegrin Olympic Committee that finished all the work regarding the Olympic Games in a remarkable way.

The report presents the financial results of MOC's work, ending with the completion of the Olympic Games in London, and it is considered that it was as planned, and the final financial report will be submitted to the Assembly of MOC for review and shown in our annual financial statements.

Special thanks to the understanding and support of our sponsors is addressed, to the Government of Montenegro and the International Olympic Committee, with whose help the MOC has managed to complete all planned obligations, specific plans for training Olympic athletes and Olympic candidates.

It was also noted that this is an opportunity to thank all those who have encouraged and helped us before and during the Olympic Games, both in the country and abroad and thus were a great support to our athletes on their way to great results.

The session also discussed the upcoming activities, which by the end of this year and during the next will be really a lot.

At the end of September (21-23.09) a regional meeting of the President and General Secretary of the Olympic Committees in Central and Southeastern Europe will be held and hosted by Montenegro. This meeting will be attended by representatives of 14 countries (Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Turkey, Albania, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Montenegro).

Montenegrin Olympic Committee has made a decision on the participation, and appointed heads of mission for the competitions, on which our athletes will participate in year 2013.: Mediterranean Games (Turkey), winter and summer European Youth Olympic Festival (Romania and the Netherlands) and the Games of the Small States of Europe (Luxembourg).

In accordance with the Charter of the International Olympic Committee and the new Statute of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, the Executive Committee has decided to hold regular and Electoral Assembly of Montenegrin Olympic Committee, which will be held on 3rd November 2012., and all the national sports federations will be officially notified about this.
