Dušan Simonović, President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, welcomed today Irfana Čekića, winner of the first Montenegrin medal at European Championships in Table Tennis, and leaders of the Table Tennis Association of Montenegro, President Darko Đukić, Secretary General Vesko Lipovina and Sports Director Branko Rogić. At the European Championship for juniors and cadets recently held in Kazan (Russia) our young table tennis player won bronze medal in mixed double. Representatives of the Table Tennis Association of Montenegro were satisfied by the fact that their players have won several medals in last period, and current collection from the Balkan Championship and the Games of the Small States of Europe is complemented by bronze medal from the European Championship. As President Darko Đukić said, behind such success stands great and hard work of competitors themselves and their coaches, and efforts of the Table Tennis Association of Montenegro to provide working conditions and participation at certain event, despite numerous difficulties. “With such success our athletes proved that we deserve better treatment, by this I mean financial support, which will contribute to better results and more medals.” President Simonović congratulated Irfan Čekić for extraordinary success and expressed assurances that his full affirmation in this demanding Olympic sport is yet to come. Čekić is holder of the Olympic grant and as Simonović says, all our young athletes who have made us proid by their results deserve all our support and assistance, from the State and from the Ministry of Sport and from the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, as well. President of MOC concluded that the Table Tennis Association has made great progress despite difficult situation it functions in. Montenegrin Olympic Committee will continue to support the Table Tennis Association of Montenegro, within its possibilities, and to give its contribution in order for Montenegrin table tennis players to continue to successfully represent our state at important international competitions.
