Montenegrin Olympic Committee celebrates its day today, in memory of 7. July 2007 when in Guatemala City became full time member of the International Olympic Committee. President of Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović said that acceptance into IOC represents recognitions to all efforts athletes made for years in order to affirm the picture that wider international public had about Montenegro. "Acceptance is recognition of efforts made in referendum process and its fairness and transparency. Montenegrin Olympic Committee prepared that moment patiently for years and awaited independence referendum completely ready for such an important international exam. This acceptance opened the road for numerous and wonderful moments we got from Montenegrin athletes", said Simonović He reminded that since the acceptance, Montenegrin flag flaunted at the Summer and Winter Olympic Games in Beijing and Vancouver, Mediterranean Games in Pescara, Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, Games of the Small States of Europe in Lichtenstein, numerous regional, Balkan, European and international championships and tournaments. President of Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović said at the ceremonial session of MOC Assembly today that he hopes with support of the Government and some local communities they will create International Youth Olympic Center which will serve for preparations of young and perspective athletes. "We don’t have any doubts it will represent big step towards new recognitions and medals, successes and further affirmation of our country, its culture, role in the region, contribution to global process of understanding and peace efforts, which is in particular, mission of the Olympic movement as biggest global idea", said Simonović. He hopes that Montenegro will get House of sport, but also museum and library dedicated to Montenegrin sport and its protagonists throughout history. In gratitude for their assistance, Montenegrin Olympic Committee delivered recognitions to the Government of Montenegro, Embassies of China and Italy, Faculty for Sport and Physical Education in Nikšić, National tourist organization, Investment-Development Fond. Recognitions were also delivered to the general sponsor of Montenegrin Olympic Committee – Telenor, official partner of MOC – company Feel Motors-Toyota, Port Bar, Montenegro Airlines, technical sponsor Radio television of Montenegro. Assembly of Montenegrin Olympic Committee adopted today financial report for 2010. as well as financial pan for 2011. In 2011, MOC will allocate most of the money to international activities and assistance to sport associations, for functioning of MOC and for agreed obligations. Some of the amount is provided for the work of MOC bodies and authorities. President Dušan Simonović thinks that the budget of Montenegrin Olympic Committee is low, but MOC is obliged to satisfy with the amount. "It would be better if we had more, MOC showed it deserves more, but it is fine the way it is now", said Simonović. President of the Shooting Association of Montenegro, Dragan Samardžić thinks that Montenegrin Olympic Committee must be highest sport institution. He stressed that MOC must directly influence on allocation of financial means from the games of chance, in order to direct those means to key sport organizations. For the new member of the Executive Board of Montenegrin Olympic Committee was elected Vladimir Kavarić from Basketball Association of Montenegro, instead of Igor Lukšić who was elected Prime Minister in the meantime. Conclusion of MOC Assembly is that National Olympic Committee must be positioned as roof sport association. Activity report of MOC was also adopted for the period between two Assemblies, which was published and delivered to delegates. The Assembly supported skier Bojan Kosić, and also congratulated Montenegrin athletes for achieved successes. It was stressed that after adoption of the Law on Sport will start changes and amendments of MOC Statutes and in that sense were proposed guidelines according to which the Executive Board will operate during the draft of new MOC Statutes. By minute of silence, the Assembly commemorated basketball player Ljubomir Jovanović who tragically lost his life few days ago. In the work of the Assembly participated 48 out of 61 delegates.
