First Youth Olympic Games are opened today and will last until 26th August. During that time 3.500 athletes will compete in 26 sports. The first competition of youth Olympians was open by the President of Singapore SelapanRamanatanNaftan in presence of large number of eminent guests, lead by the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) JacquesRogge. – It is my great pleasure to see that today we have managed to realize one more idea of the Olympic Movement. The Youth Olympic Games are very important project for us, because we enable athletes to see the importance of the Olympic principles – said Rogge and added that IOC leaders are very satisfied with the quality of organization of the Games. – We are very satisfied with the development of things. This will be very interesting Games – said Rogge. In team sports, our country will be represented by cadet football national team. Our team is only European team in Singapore, as for football… This is the reason why the honor of carrying the flag went to football players – the flag was carried by Nebojša Kosović.
