WOG VANCOUVER 2010. – OUR SINGLE OLYMPIC COMPETITOR WAS GOOD IN TWO SLALOM RACES IN WHISTLER Bojan Kosić 61. In competition of 103 competitors Bojan Kosić won 61. place in grand slalom race in Whistler at the WOG in Vancouver. Our best skier started first race under number 88, and he skied very good, and after 14 withdrawals he was on 70. place before second race. In his second race Kosić skied above his possibilities, especially in the second part of the path when he outplayed better placed from the first race Albanian Erion Tolu (69.) and Russian Stepan Zuev (64.), which, counting 8 withdrawals, brought him 61. place in the final placing. Winner of the grand slalom and gold medalist is Suisse skier Karlo Janka, who defended asset from the first race and providing himself first Olympic victory in grand slalom, and his country first celebration in this discipline since the Games in Sarajevo 1984. Biggest surprise was Norwegian Kjetil Jansrud, who won silver medal after 11 position in the first race and great appearance in the second one. Third Olympic medal, bronze this time, was won by his fellow citizen Aksel Lund Svindal (gold medalist in super grand slalom and silver in downhill). Austrians continued agony in Vancouver in grand slalom. Marcel Hischer nearly won the medal while his fellow citizen Romed Bauman finished in fifth position, Benjamin Reich sixth and Philip Scherghofer twelfth. Excellent performance had best Croatian skier Ivica Kostelić, who was seventh at the second race after finishing on tenth position in the first and by this he improved his career best in this discipline from Salt Lake City.
