Looking his chance in slalom

There was noting to add, and nothing to distract, and just yesterday President of Skiing Association of Montenegro, Vesna Medenica presented the real measure and together with the President of Montenegrin Olympic Committee Dušan Simonović and single Montenegrin representative at the Olympic Games in Vancouver, skier Bojan Kosić went to distant trip, into the real winter entertainment.

– Important day for Montenegrin skiing and Montenegrin Olympic Committee. Skiing Association of Montenegro is youngest member of FISA and from the very moment of its membership into this important world association until today, we send our single representative to the Games – said Medenica. – Skiing is sport that should be sport of Montenegrin future, having in mind all that Montenegro as a state has and can offer to skiers.

From his first days Medenica is following work of 18 year old skier.

– He is in skiing for a long time, and I can say he started walking on skis, I follow him for a long time since I am in this sport since years ago. I know all his steps that lead him to his trip to Vancouver – said Medenica. And what to expect? We have already fulfilled our expectation. We will have representative who will have the honor of carrying Montenegrin flag , earned by fulfilling Olympic norm. Participation at the Winter Olympic Games is stimulation for others and I personally hope that at the next Games we will have more candidates.

Bojan Kosić, is scholar from the family of winter Olympic sports, and he will have his debut in two alpine disciplines. On 21. February (in case there will be no changes in the program) he will compete in slalom and six days later in grand slalom.

– I would like to thank Mrs. Medenici and Montenegrin Olympic Committee, as well as the other who were really supportive. I can promise that I won’t let you down and that I will do my best to represent Montenegro and our sport at the Games in Vancouver in best possible way – said Kosić. – Every track is different and time are different as well.

For the President of MOC, Simonović, placement at the WOG of the young skier is not a surprise.

– Bojan didn’t surprise us, he made us happy. Even though he is young, from his early childhood he expressed talent and just because of his talent, results and progress, Montenegro will be among 80 participating countries at the Games in Vancouver. This is great success because out of 211 members of the International Olympic Committee, only 80 will have their representatives – said Simonović. – NI hope that Bojan will achieve impressive result, but only his placement and trip to the Olympic Games is great result for Montenegro, that will have its representative in this important sport event for the first time.

Young skier will be accompanied by his father, who is also a coach and director of alpine national team Rajko Kosić.

– As a father I am extremely happy that Bojan fulfilled program and aim, and as a coach and director of alpine national team I am happy that skiing in Montenegro is going the right direction and that we have more good competitors. I hope that through the project we created, at the next Games we will have more competitors – said Kosić. – We will try to achieve best possible result in Vancouver and I hope that Bojan will make us happy by achieving good results.

Winter Olympic Games begin on 12. February.
