In organization of Slovak Olympic Committee, on 12th January 2010. In Bratislava was held meeting of Olympic Committees of central and south-eastern European countries, where, besides host were also present representatives from Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Slovenia, Serbia and Turkey. The meeting was chaired by Mr. JozefLiba, Secretary General of the Slovak Olympic Committee. Topic of the meeting was positioning of Olympic Committees toward European Union through EU office of the Eropean Olympic Committees, that was open in Brussels in 2009. Director of EU office of EOC, Mr. Folker Helmund presented activities and function of the Office, activities in 2009. and work plan for 2010. Special interest of the present was expressed for possibility of financing sport projects through Europena Union funds. As Mr. Helmund explained, in the pacageof programs adopted by the European Union for period until the end of 2013, for sport projecets there are no special grants, bt within certain areas, such as clture and education, health, yoth programs…there is space for applaying with sport projects. Starting from 2014. In next seven years pacage, it is certain that finacing of sport projcets will be possible through special sport program. Director of the Department for Education and International Relations of the Ministry od Education of Slovakia, Mrs. Elena Malikova, presented part of the project for which her Ministry, through joint project of Slovak Government, got signifficant financial support from the European Union, among other things fro sport too. Part of the budget was received for education of sport teachers to work with talented young people, cooperation between schools and sport institutions and setting up network of national and regional centers for work with talented yong athletes.
