BOŠKO DRAŠKOVIĆ WON FIRST PLACE ON TOURNAMENT IN PESCARA Gold for Drašković Boško Drašković from Nikšić, our national team member competing in semi-weight category, yesterday in Pescara climbed on winner’s throne. While putting golden medal around his neck, and during the national anthem, young Montenegrin boxer was very happy, but also with tear in his eyes. – My boyhood dream came true, that’s why I had tears in my eyes – said Boško Drašković for ARENA. – Since I went to Pescara from Nikšić, I secretly hoped for the throne. I knew it will be difficult, but I believed in myself. At the beginning of the fight I had stage fright which prevented me to show everything I know, but after consulting my coach in the second round, I went for all or nothing. I won and I deserved it, so my happiness is endless. In the finals of boxing tournament, Drašković’s opponent was Abdelhafid Benchaboma from Algeria. Tall guy with long hands and very strong, at the beginning he was a mystery to our champion. After the first round it was 2:0 for Algerian boxer. But, in the second round everything came to its place. Drašković changed his tactics, started to circle around his opponent, avoid close range fight, started punching but straight away to go one step back. – I saw that Drašković wasn‘t following our agreement, whether out f stage fright or whatever else was happening in the first round – explains our selector Dragan Đuričković. – Algerian imposed his own style and I pointed out to his mistakes in the break between first and second round. In the next round, Boško was totally new boxer. He completely changed his tactics, which confused the opponent and than he turned the match in his favor. He led 8:2 and when already gained such advantage, by the end of the match he boxed cleverly, without entering in any risks, so that he could avoid some unexpected punch of his opponent. At the end, Drašković won by 8:4. – I knew what I had to do – continues Drašković. – It wasn’t easy, because I had three matches all in different fight styles I needed to adjust to. Finally, everything turn out to be prefect, and I can’t wait to come to my hometown Nikšić and celebrate this title.
