Visit of the International Olympic Committee – Olympic Solidarity

Firs day of the visit included meeting with the staff, management and administration of MOC, lead by president Dušan Simonović, as well as tour and visit to several sport facilities in Podgorica.

Vipond, who is in charge of several important departments within the Olympic solidarity, among which are relations with NOC from Europe and Africa, and de Angelis, on the second day of their visit had meeting with chefs de missions of big competitions organized under the Olympic flag, such as the Olympic Games, Mediterranean Games and EYOF, and with number of Montenegrin sport workers. On that occasion, guests had a chance to see way of functioning of Montenegrin Olympic Committee during preparation phase and organization of mentioned sport events, modalities on which communication between sport federations in Montenegro and Montenegrin Olympic Committee, way of recognizing and stimulating Olympic and sport talents in Montenegro, and other important issues in area of activities and institutional acting of MOC.

„It is great honor for me being here for the first time, and I would like to thank you for excellent organization of our visit“, said Vipond at the meeting with presidents and representatives from sport federations and members of the Executive Board of MOC, organized in Hotel „Crna Gora“.

She specified that her visit and visit of de Angelis is, first of all, consultative mission, to help National Olympic Committee and sport federations to understand way of functioning of the International Olympic Committee and European Olympic Committee, and possibilities for realization of goals and programs related to development of national sport in general in relation with these two big international sport associations.

„We are extremely satisfied with the fact that we have came across enthusiasm of local sport workers and athletes“, said Vipond, congratulating for success of Montenegrin representatives on their first participation at the Olympic Games in Beijing, last year.

She explained the present way of functioning of Olympic solidarity and ways of access to its funds, referring and encouraging federations to establish closer cooperation with Montenegrin Olympic Committee, being the only relevant address through which they should apply for individual programs and projects.

Representatives of federations and members of the Executive Board of MOC, asked constructive and useful questions, as it was concluded by the president of MOC Dušan Simonović, and guests themselves.

De Angelis stressed that reports form the visit will be made only upon arrival to headquarters, but that he can say the in MOC, he visited an conducted audit control for 22 months from day of recognition by the International Olympic Committee, was performed very quality job.

After this meeting, another meeting with presidents of the Commissions of MOC was held.

Guest were also welcomed by Dragan Drobnjak, assistant Minister for sport in the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Media.
