On 21st April 2009. in offices of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee was signed Protocol on technical and sport cooperation between MOC and Olympic Committe of Italy. On behalf of Montenegrin side, this Protocol was signed by President, DušanSimonović. This Protocol is result of successful cooperation between two National Olympic Committeea, Italian and Montenegrin, whic MOC considers to be priority in frames of relations established with surrounding countries. Wish of both National Olympic Committees was that signing of this Protocol should be promoted by Michele Barbone, who is one of initiators of sport cooperation between these two countries, 28 years ago, through Italian region Puglia. This cooperation lasts today, through event known as Maggio barese, organised every year in Bari and sport meetings of Puglia and Montenegro held in our country in September. Barbone, member of Olympic Committee of Italy's bodies, former president of Olympic Committee of Puglia, is great friend of Montenegro. Recently, he was named for honorary consul of the Republic of San Marino in Montenegro. Having in mind that Italian-Montenegrin sport friendship started by exchange of table-tennis players, at the signing ceremony was also present Mr. Francesco Sanimaniko, President of Table-tennis federation of Italy, who had chance to meet his Montenegrin colleague Darko Đukić.
