On Small sport Stadium under Gorica hill, yesterday at 09:30 was held final sport-amusing event Olympic caravan Beijing 2008. For that occasion gathered children from Cetinja, Bijelo Polje, Kolašin, Mojkovac, Nikšić, Bar, Herceg Novi, Tivat and Podgorica – boys and girls, winners of all Olympic caravan races, to greet our Olympic athletes and wish them luck at the Olympic Games in Beijing. Before race was held cultural-amusing program, opened by children’s choir "Suncokreti" from similar children cultural center. With their songs they amused their bit older friends, focused on forthcoming race. Afterwards two attendants of ballet school "Princeza Ksenija" performed choreography "Birds". Famous Montenegrin singer Bojan Delić, who is frequent guest of this year’s Olympic caravan, sang one of his hits. In the name of capital city, secretary for culture and sport of Podgorica, mr Zoran Šoškić, addressed children and the present. He said that this event, organized toward forthcoming Olympic Games in Beijing "represents contribution in understanding meaning of olympism spirit as planetary phenomenon survives through time, affirming sport and equality among people , regardless of their color, religion and nation." In the name of Olympic athletes Igor Vušurović, golden Olympic medal winner from Sydney 2000, who always responded to invitation to magnify this event addressed the present. Very spontaneously, he addressed children saying that he recognises in them this competitive and winning spirit. As member of Executive Board of MOC, our famous handball player, doctor, vice president of Handball Association of Montenegro, dr Zorica Kovačević, addressing the present stressed importance of sport practice. "For long time I practiced sport and I know how much pleasure, and friendships for life you can make through sport. Be good students, study but always find time for physical activities, beacuse it will make you more efficient in school, healthier and more pleased. I became doctoer even though I practiced sport, but it remained big passion in my life", said dr Kovačević. Start of the race was in front of Montenegrin Olympic Committee’s offices, at beginning of esplanade in Gorica, and finish was at Small sport Stadium. Absolute winner of the Olympic caravan Beijing 2008. in female competition is Ljiljana Kljajević, student of ES "Risto Ratković" from Bijelo Polje, second was Marija Purlija, student of ES "Jovan Tomašević" from Virpazar, while third place went to Ivana Jovović, student of ES "Blažo Jokov Orlandić " for Bar. Winner of the Olmypic Cravan Beijing 2008. is Mileta Vlahović, student of ES "Risto Manojlović" from Kolašin, second was Stevan Kašćelan, student of ES "Drago Milović" from Tivat and third place went to Miloš Maslovarić, student of ES "Marko Miljanov" from Bijelo Polje. Diplomas for winners of yesterday’s race were delivered by dr Zorica Kovačević, and goblets were delivered by Budo Miranović, deputy secretary for culture and sport of the capital city. Yesterday’s program moderator was sport journalist, Željko Šoć. Secretary General of MOC, Đorđije Kustudić was also present at the event. Only will and ambition As it is already known, this event in honor of forthcoming Olympic Games in Beijing, where Montenegrin athletes for the first time in their history participate independently, was organized by Montenegrin Olympic Committee in cooperation with Athletic Association of Montenegro and host cities. In any case, in three months of duration and visit of ten Montenegrin cities in all three regions, this event showed that Montenegro has talented and hardworking children, hardworking sport workers and enough ambition. In races of the Olympic caravan participated almost 2.000 children from elementary schools, aged between 7 and 14. One thing must be noticed, in all cities, except Bar which has athletic racecourse, children ran on streets and pavement. Even the capital city doesn’t have one!
