We remind you that this event is organised by the Montenegrin Olympic Committee in cooperation with Athletic Federation of Montenegro and host municipalities. "Basic goal of the Olympic movement is to contribute to building better and peaceful world, education of youth through sport, without any kind of discrimination with solidarity and fair play spirit. Promotion of sport and competition is done by state international sport institutions all over the world. Ten months ago Montenegrin Olympic Committee became fultime member of the International Olympic Committee and enabled Montenegrin athletes to participate at biggest sport event in the World. In Beijing, Montenegro will be represented by around twenty male and female athletes, which is large number considering size and population number of Montenegro. For sure Bijelo Polje and whole Montenegro will be supporting our athletes. And I also thing that any medal won in Beijing will be golden for Montenegro. I believe that for the next Olympic Games there will be someone from Bijelo Polje since it is city of youth and sport", said Andrija Popović, Vice president of the MOC and our famous waterpolo player, winner of golden Olympic medal in Los Angeles in 1984. opening the Caravan in Bijelo Polje. In the name of Municipal Assembly of Bijelo Polje, Džemal Ljušković wished Montenegrin athletes success at the Olympic Games in Beijing and greeted participants of the Caravan. To our athletes competing in Beijing good luck was wished by Osman Erović, selector of athletics national team of Montenegro and Jovana Kljajević, atlhete of AC "Jedinstvo." Around 100 boys and girls from elementary schools in Bijelo Polje raced in 800 m race. First ten placed will participate in final race in Podgorica, on closing event of the "Olympic caravan", in mid July. Fastest among girls were Ljiljana Kljajević, second was Božica Mujović and third Jelena Veličković, all three from ES „Risto Ratković“. Fastets among boys was Miloš Maslovarić from ES „Marko Miljanov“, followed by Haris Hodžić, from ES in Njegnjevo, and third was Sadudin Kolić ES „Dušan Korać“. Beside them, for race in Podogrica also qualified Kojović Svetlana, Cmiljanić Katarina, Ziada Kanalić, Snežana Lazović, Eldina Nišić, Andrijana Bugarin, Katarina Cerović, Marko Konatar, Ilhan Mekić, Eldin Hot, Enes Bektašević, Aldin Šemović, Dino Kovačević and Anis Kolić. Montenegrin Olympic Committee delivered medals and certificates, and host of the Caravan Municipal Assembly of Bijelo Polje provided presents. During the Olympic caravan in Bijelo polje were held concerts of famous Montenegrin singer Slobodan Kovačević and young singer Elma Kurtagić. Next week Caravan will be in Rožaje. Kemal Musić Realisation of a dream after 20 years Osman Erović, selector of athletic national team of Montenegro didn’t manage to go to Olympic Games in Seul in 1988. „In '88. I was candidate for the Olympic Games in Seul. Due to some circumstances my biggest wish didn’t come true. Now I will be at the Games. I will lead Montenegrin athletes in the biggest sport event – the Olympic Games in Beijing“, says Erović. Strong competition Miloš Maslovarić won first place in men race at the Olympic caravan in Bijelo polje. „I am very pleased with the race. Competition was very strong. I didn’t follow the race from the beginning, so I finished in last 300 m and managed to be first. I will support our athletes at the Games and I hope that some day I will also participate at this biggest event which represents every athlete’s dream“, says Maslovarić. Sister as a rolemodel Ljiljana Kljajević easilly won first place in female race at the Olympic caravan in Bijelo polje. „It was not difficult, because as athlete of Jedinstvo I participated in lots of very difficult races. Nevertheless, every victory is very precious to me. My older sister Jovana Kljajević is already successful athlete and I hope I will be like her“, says Ljiljana.
