Early this morning, local time, the Montenegrin Olympic Committee was accepted into full time membership of the International olympic Committee. This decision was brought on 199th Session of the General Assembly of the IOC, which is ending its four days work in Guatemala City today. This means that the Montenegrin Olympic Committee has become 204th member of the Association of National Olympic Committees. Dušan Simonović, President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee for this occasion has said: “Recognition by the IOC is special event for every country, which, by many things exceeds sport limits. By my opinion, and I think I'm not being exessive, for one country this is more important event after the event of aception in the United Nations. We in Montenegro treat it that way». For us, for Montenegro, recognition by the IOC will mean a lot, and by that I think about adequate, even bigger and more important affirmation of all resources of our country, tourist, economic and all other. For our athletes, this is, for sure, additional chance and new challenge." About this even, Mr. Simonović was informed in direct contact from the IOC's Department for NOC relations.
