The MOC – inscription in the Olympic map

Today in Guatemala City will be finished two-days session of the Executive Board of the IOC. It is introduction to the 119. Session of the General Assembly which will be held in the capital of Guatemala, one of the states of Central America, from 4. to 7. August.

During this session, main topic will be the decision on host city of Olympic Games 2014, and the most important decision for history of the MOC – acceptance into full time membership into IOC. That decision will formally mark its existence on the intenational Olympic map.

This procedure will be performed without presence of representatives from the MOC in Guatemala City, since such are the rules for acceptanceof National Olympic Committee into Olympic Family.

Procedure for selection of the host city for XXII Winter Games 2014. is quite familiar.
On 4. July, the General Assembly of the IOC, in "Vestin Kamino Rojal" Hotel will make the decision impatiently expected in Soci (Russia), Salzburg (Austria) and PjongChang (Korea). As a reminder, the Executive Board of the IOC in June 2006. has unanimously has accepted these candidatures, while candidatures of Jaca (Spain), Sofia (Bulgaria) and Boryomiy (Armenia), were rejected.

Voting procedure is as follows: until one of the host cities has absolute majority of votes. This time, even though there are three candidate cities, only two voting rounds are possible.

At five P.M. local time, the public will be informed about which city will be host of the Winter Games 2014.

General Assembly will continue its work in next three days, thursday, friday and saturday.

General Assembly is held annualy, and on every second session members of the IOC have to decide host of Winter or Summer Olympic Games, seven years prior to their organisation. On 115. sassion held in 2003. in Prague, was decided that host city of XXI Winter Games 2010. will be Vancouver, while on 117. session held in Singapour in 2005., was decided that XXX Summer Olympic Games 2012. will be held in London.

Rog became honorary PhD

University "Galileo" from Guatemala City awarded to Jacques Rog, the President of the IOC, title of Honorary PhD. On that occasion, Rog has inaugurated new Faculty of Sport Sciences, where besides other, will be taugth principles of the Olympic philosophy. As a reminder, the President of the IOC is Belgian by nationality, by vocation doctor – orthopedist.

Meeting of the Executive Board

It is not randomly that Meeting of the Executive Board of the IOC precedes the General Assembly of the IOC.

Among other, it is in charge of selection of host cities for Olympic Games, and also decides on the Agenda of the General Assembly of the IOC.

Board also gives reccommendations to the General Assembly of the IOC for acceptance of new members, as well as reccommendations for acceptance of new National Olympic Committeess into Association of National Olympic Committees membership. On its session hel in Lausanne on 7. February 2007, has brought the decision for reccommendation to the IOC for acceptance of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee into full time membership of the Olympic Family.

The Executive Board also decides on internal organization of the IOC, and it is in charge of administrative work of the IOC, management of financial means, about which it submits financial reports to the General Assembly. Besides this, it takes care of implementation of the Olympic Charter during preparation and duration of the Olympic Games.

The Executive Board was formed in 1921., its President, four Vice presidents and 10 members are chosen by the General Assembly of the IOC, by secret voting. Current President of the Executive Board is also the President of the IOC, Jacques Rog
