Montenegro women's national handball team has lost a match against the Netherlands 30:29 (17:12), in the last, fifth round of Group A of the Olympic tournament in Tokyo. Our team is to play against Russia in the quarterfinals, at 2.30 am local time, on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday. In the duel with the Netherlands, Montenegro initially took the lead 5:3, and by 12th minute of the game it was 6:5. However, Netherlands then made series of goals and took the lead 11:7, and by halftime they increased the advantage to five goals (17:12). The goal difference at minute 34 was seven (19:12), while at minute 46, after three consecutive goals, it went up to a record nine-goal difference (25:16). In the last 15 minutes, the "lionesses" showed character, with a series of five consecutive goals that reduced this gap to 25:21 at 10 minutes remaining, then came to minus two (28:26), but unfortunately with no turnaround. The best scorer in Montenegro's team was Jovanka Radicevic with eight goals, with Djurdjina Jaukovic and Tatjana Brnovic scoring five goals each, while Jelena Despotovic and Majda Mehmedovic each scored four times.
