Montenegro women's national handball team was defeated in the quarterfinals of the Olympic tournament by Russia 32:26 (17:15). The official Olympic champion justified the role of the favorite, after taking the lead 7:1 in the seventh minute, with the score increasing to 12:5 in the next ten minutes of the match. Near the end of the first half, our "lionesses" managed to reduce the gap to two goals with a series of 4 consecutive goals (17:15). However, in the middle of the second half-time, Russia again gained a six-goal advantage (28:22) and the question of the winner was practically already resolved then. As for the Montenegrin team, Jovanka Radicevic stood out with ten, while Djurdjina Jaukovic ended the match with eight goals. The most efficient players in the Russian team were Anna Vyakhireva with eight and Polina Kuznetsova with five goals.
