Our representative in high jump Marija Vukovic secured ninth place after the high jump's final round at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. In the finals she managed to jump over 184 and 189 with no errors, 193 in two attempts and 196 centimeters in her third, and final attempt. She dislodged the bar at the 198-centimeter scale three times. There were only four competitors in front of her and just four more jumped the same height. However, they were better placed than Marija thanks to a smaller number of failures. Still, to the delight of everyone, our competitor placed herself in the finals, and managed to obtain a tremendous result on the world's biggest stage. Vukovic placement in Tokyo came with a personal record of 197 centimeters. The gold medal was won by the Russian Mariya Lasitskene who managed to jump over 204 centimeters. She is a three-time world champion as well as a European champion. Australian athlete Nicole McDermott won silver by jumping over 202 centimeters, while Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchikh gained bronze with a two-meter jump.
