Danka Kovinic signed a scolarship agreement

Our top tennis player, Danka Kovinic visited the Montenegrin Olympic Committee (MOC) today where she signed her scholarship agreement, together with the president of the MOC, Dusan Simonovic and the president of the Montenegro Tennis Association, Dimitrije Rasovic. Danka is one of eight male and female athletes for whom the MOC provided Olympic scholarships through the Olympic Solidarity Fund for the period until the end of the Olympic Games in Paris.

Dusan Simonovic said the MOC provided 8 Olympic scholarships this year, based on the recommendations from national sports associations, for the best male and female athletes in individual sports, who are candidates for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

"I am exceptionally glad that the Olympic Solidarity Fund has accepted our proposal to award scholarships to 8 of our athletes. Apart from Marija Vukovic and Danka Kovinic, the scholarships will also be awarded to Danijel Furtula, Tomas DJurovic, Milivoj Dukic, Jovana Pekovic, Petar Lijesevic and Bojana Gojkovic. As in the previous years, we have tried to honour gender balance, so the same number of male and female athletes will receive scholarships for the period until the end of the Olympic Games in Paris. Danka and Marija signed their agreements, and in the coming days, the MOC expects to sign agreements with other scholarship holders. These scholarships, of course, are not the only form of support our male and female athletes can count on. Despite the challenges the sports in Montenegro face, we are determined to help our male and female athletes have the best conditions for preparation, growth and development. I believe that all young people who are on the scholarship list, are the right role models to our youth and society, and will deservingly represent Montenegro in any future competition, and our greatest common goal is, of course, the Olympic Games in Paris", Simonovic concluded.

Danka Kovinic, who was also an MOC's scholarship holder in previous cycles, thanked the MOC, who has been fully supportive of athletes in this Olympic cycle, as well as in many previous ones.

"The Olympic scholarship is certainly "the wind at my back" in terms of qualifying for Paris, as I feel genuine support of all those who care about us, led by President Dusan Simonovic."
