The President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee (MOC), Dušan Simonović and the MOC Secretary General, Igor Vušurović, received today our best athlete, Marija Vuković, the silver medallist at the recently completed Munich 2022 European Athletics Championships. The holder of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee's scholarship thanked President Simonović and the umbrella sports organisation in Montenegro for their selfless support they have been providing her for many years. "The Montenegrin Olympic Committee has always stood by me. I have recently watched a video from 2010 in which President Simonović said he believed in me and expected my participation in the Games, now long time ago, in 2012. I'm glad I officially became part of our Olympic family last year. We have always had a nice relationship, and I hope we will have a good time together in the future, and that we will support each other and rejoice in my and the success of our other athletes too," said Marija. "We have had a great relationship with Marija for many years, as well as with the Athletic Federation of Montenegro. And we will continue with this great relationship in the future. Whenever Marija comes back from a competition, she brings us joy and smile, and now, she has brought us a silver medal. I hope we will support each other for a very long time, and I am sure that Marija, who is in full athletic maturity, will have many more great competitions and results. I hope, we can be of use for her on that journey. Since her Olympic final, everything has been different. In Tokyo, Marija really drew attention to herself. Now she has significant and stable heights, and she is striving towards jumping above two meters, and I hope she can make that happen in Paris. We have the right to dream about an Olympic medal in track and field, because nothing is impossible when it comes to Marija," said Dušan Simonović. The reception was also attended by the representatives of the Athletic Federation of Montenegro, as well as Marija’s coach Ioanna Siomou. On that occasion, the MOC President also signed a scholarship agreement with Marija’s coach, which will be valid until the end of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. "It is very important that we make our contribution in this way to ensure continuity in terms of training and co-operation, which produces exceptional results," Simonović said, after the agreement was signed.
